IF YOU WOULD ONLY LISTEN TO ME! (Psa. 81:13) - Devotional



PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

May 31st, 2026.


“But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices.” (Psalm 81:11-12 NIV)

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chron. 7:14 NIV)


What do we benefit from listening to God?

  • First, we will have no other gods and will serve no other gods. This means we will be free from the sin of adultery. We will be free from serving two masters and pleasing no one. We will be free from the power of doubts and second guessing. We will be more focused on the living God and our faith in Him will grow steadily turning us from baby believers to matured believers.

  • God will quickly subdue our enemies and turn our  hands against our  foes! Those who hate us, hate the Lord and they would cringe before Him,  and their punishment would last forever. Our enemies will be as nothing before us and therefore we will be free from their burden.

  • We will be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock. We will plant and harvest plenty and whatever we lay our hands to do shall prosper.

  • Before we call, God will answer. When we are in distress, He will come quickly to rescue us. He didn’t abandon the three Hebrew boys in the fire nor did He forget Peter in prison. He sat with John on the Island of Patmos. When we cry for help, the Lord will say, “Here I Am.”

  • Our healing will quickly appear; then our righteousness] will go before us, and the glory of the Lord will be our rear guard like the pillar of cloud in the day and pillar of fire in the night. We will no longer lean on our own understanding for God will direct the way we should go. When we open our mouths, He will fill it.

  • Our joy will be full because our joy is in the Lord, and He will cause us to ride in triumph on the heights of the land. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.

It is unfortunate that we are not listening. And if we are listening, we are not consistent. That means we have not maximized our access to God’s abundant wealth and resources.

THE WORD: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Phil 4:8 NIV)
