THE DANGER OF PROCRASTINATION.
“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4 NIV)

THE DANGER OF PROCRASTINATION.
“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4 NIV)
Procrastination is sin. And a grievous one at that. Why? Two reasons.
First, it is an indicator of an undisciplined and lazy life. It puts things off by giving into our fleshly desire for present comfort and ease. The acts of procrastination do not scream. It comes in small packages that are easily overlooked. For example, you are going out of your room and you remember that you should pick an item on your bed or table but then you brush it off for next time, or you say to yourself ‘I will come back to get it.’ It gradually grows into bigger things like missing life changing events because you assumed there will always be a next time. Seriously, will there really be a next time? “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.” (James 4:17 NIV)
A second reason why procrastination is a horrible sin is putting off what we know to do today to A NOT PROMISED TOMORROW. Be careful to guard against this easily tolerated sin. “Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:13-14 NIV) We don’t even know if tomorrow will happen.
People have left their WILLs unwritten because they procrastinate. They died before they could thereby leave their loving families in disarray. Many missed their healing miracles because they got to the service late or not at all. Lost opportunities because you feel lazy and slothful. We do not see or know the price paid for procrastination because we cannot quantify it. But it is there and it is very expensive and often times not recoverable.
Procrastination is LINKED to laziness and slothfulness (Prov. 6:9-11; 12:27; 19:15)
The DANGER: poverty, hunger and missed opportunities.
The SPIRITUAL PRICE: Lack of Trust in God.
Therefore, “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning," (Luk.12.35.NIV)
THE WORD: "You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” (Luk.12.40.NIV)
