Until you
experience the Holy Spirit, one is really not alive. This is why the Bible
says: "The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt,
their deeds are vile....." (Psa.14.1.NIV)
Prophet Hosea puts it this way: "My people are destroyed from lack of
knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my
priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your
children." (Hos.4.6.NIV)
The lack of personal knowledge of God was destroying the people, but not
because knowledge was not available, but because the people willfully rejected
the truth of God. Even today, within and outside the church, many are wasting
away, carried away by the sinful deeds in the world because they do not know
God and His inspired Word.
Why is there a remarkable, sometimes drastic change in those who have
encountered the Holy Spirit through faith in Christ? And suddenly, all previous
knowledge in any field of life seems like absolutely nothing! This is the
evidence that there is no authentic knowledge without the knowledge of God.
Even Jesus Christ told us that much. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring
to your remembrance all things that I said to you."
(Jhn.14.26. NKJV). The Apostles were living proof of this. They wrote nothing
down throughout the period Jesus taught them. The Holy Spirit brought all
things to their memory. It is also impossible to deny His authorship of the
Bible. This is why we find people who never went to school but who are filled
with the Holy Spirit speak as if they are Deans of the faculty of Theology.
The Holy Spirit is out of reach without faith in Jesus Christ and His finished
work. The Holy Spirit needs the Word and the Word needs the Spirit. Think of
the wonderful things the Holy Spirit does in the name of Jesus or on His
behalf. No miracles, resurrection, healing, prophecies, knowledge, guiding
light, remembrance, teaching, without the Holy Spirit.
We need the Holy Spirit to access the endless knowledge of things we can
comprehend and those we cannot.
WORD: "The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge
muster their strength."
(Prov.24.5.NIV)
