PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

May 15th, 2026.

Good and evil co-exist like co-tenants or neighbours and sometimes like siamese twins almost inseparable. But the scriptures say; God’s plan for us is of good and not of evil (Jer. 29:11). So why does evil take up so much space? You are not the only one asking this question.

  • Jeremiah 12:1 — "Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?"

  • Job 21:7 — "Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?"

  • Habakkuk 1:13 — "Why do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than they?"

  • Jesus told them another parable (Mat. 13:24-43). In that parable, the servants asked the owner, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ The owner replied; “An enemy did this.” “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?”  “‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”

“Let both grow together until harvest.” This is the most difficult load to bear. The temptation to uproot the enemy, to call fire from heaven to devour him, to run and put a million miles between us, is a constant agony. But the lesson is of endurance with patience, trusting that God sees, God knows, and God will act at the right time. It is a call to endurance and humility. It means we don’t have to panic when we see evil thriving. It means we do not need to obsess over who is genuine and who isn’t.

Our task is to grow faithfully where God has planted us - in families, marriages etc. To trust the Lord of harvest to separate with perfect justice when the time comes. The weeds are grass that the wind blows away. The enemy is temporary no matter how unbearable the waiting seems. Take comfort in the word of God, in the life of Abraham, Job, Daniel, Hannah and more. No matter how long it takes, evil and evil doers are temps. The weeds will not have the last word.

THE WORD: “Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” (Mat. 13:43 NIV)
