DISTRACTION!!! - DEVOTIONAL

Distraction, good or bad is something that prevents someone from concentrating. It is actually a diversion, interruption, intrusion, hindrance etc. It comes in big, small, or very tiny packages. DISTRACTION TAKES AWAY. It does more harm than good.

Distraction interferes with our focus and robs us momentarily of something precious that may be tangible or intangible. Some people see some good in distraction but it is more evil than we care to admit when it comes to growth in our Christian race.
(IT is the cause of so many road accidents, many home disasters, costly mistakes in work places etc.) All it requires is a slight shift in focus and something wonderful turns to regret.
BE ON THE WATCH OUT FOR DISTRACTION; IT IS A KILLER OF PURPOSE. IT TAKES AWAY GOD'S BLESSINGS.
Distraction in small packages: A wondering mind that cannot stay focus. Or in the middle of studying the Word, you pick up your phone to search for something that will aid your study but a word, a sentence, a picture shows on the screen that temporarily picks your interest. You automatically abandon your search and momentarily lost that intense momentum which could be priceless.

God wants us to seek Him diligently - distractions does not and cannot support that. Distraction does not give us enough time to meditate. Sometimes, you are at a place where you can almost touch or feel God's touch, then a sound! dozed off, and more.

Distraction in big packages: David on the roof top. Paul's thorn in the flesh. Solomon by beautiful women. Peter by the storm. The soldiers at the Cross by casting lots for Jesus' coat. But only Noah stayed focused in his time. Nehemiah refused to be distracted. It is written: "Be strong, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph.6.12.NIV) Put on the whole armour of God.

Once you can identify distraction, you may allow it to destroy or be destroyed. YOU CAN BE A WINNER.

WORD: "Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." (Prov.4.25-27.NIV)
