Before Samson was born, his God given assignment was: "He will take the LEAD in DELIVERING Israel from the hands of the Philistines.” (Jdg.13.5c.NIV)
When he was born, he probably didn't know this assignment and if he did, it is a good guess that he didn't know how to take the Philistines down. When he showed interest in a Philistines' damsel, his parents objected but the Bible records that; "(His parents did not know that this was from the Lord, who was seeking an occasion to confront the Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel.) (Jdg.14.4.NIV).
It was near impossible for Samson to live like a regular human being. There was this constant tendency for him to come in conflict with the Philistines. This went on for sometime until he was caught in the Philistines trap through Delilah, a woman he loved. His story didn't end there. "Then the Philistines seized him, gouged out his eyes and took him down to Gaza. Binding him with bronze shackles, they set him to grinding grain in the prison. But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved." (Jdg.16.21-22.NIV)
Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” (Jdg.16.28.NIV) "Thus he killed many more (Philistines) when he died than while he lived." (Jdg.16.30.NIV)
And true to God's word, Samson started the process of elimination of the Philistines.
Are some of us whose lives are full of flaws living out God’s will? Those who have gone astray, condemned by the society written off as no good, are they living testaments? Are we quick to judge?
