We flog ourselves more often than we care to admit because things are not going our ways, not as we planned it, not our expectations. Rarely do we see our custom built, tailor-made plans, hopes and aspirations come to be. This is when we conclude that the devil is the one responsible for our failures or short comings. This may be true, like in the life of Job, but God gave the approval. Why?
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. [9] “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isa.55.8-9.NIV)GOD IS IN ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF HIS CREATIONS.
A first time grandfather once said aloud and with great excitement (when his first daughter gave birth to a daughter, his first grandchild), that he will soon become a great-granddad. That by the time the child was 24 years old, she will be married. It didn't happen.
1. He died before the granddaughter was 10 years old.
2. The lady decided she wasn't going to get married.
Our hopes and aspirations are nothing like that of God. God's ways are not our ways. May be it is one of the reasons we are encouraged to hand our over burdens (our failures, frustration, worries) to Him.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
(Mat.11.28-29.NIV)
You dreamed of becoming a doctor, you ended up as a carpenter. You dreamed your house will be filled and full of children and grandchildren's laughter; but you live alone, all by yourself. The scripture says we never bothered to ask Him. "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil." (Jas.4.14-16.NIV)
WORD: "Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails." (Prov.19.21.NIV)
