"No one who is BORN OF GOD will continue to sin, because GOD'S SEED REMAINS IN THEM; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God." (1 John.3.9.NIV)
We should take time to read the above Scripture again and again and do a quick spiritual check-up. In the context of this Scripture, sin should become foreign to born again Christians because we carry God’s seed in us. The question is; Is sin foreign to us or we still wallow in sin?
Do I seek to stop sinning or have I stopped sinning? To be born of God means that we have the supernatural power of God to stop sinning. Apostle Paul asked; "Shall we continue in sin that Grace may abound? (Rom. 6:1). The answer is of course, NO! God forbid. Grace is not a licence to sin, but rather an empowerment to live a life of righteousness. What is that distinct character that identifies "born again" Christians from the rest of the world? It is the truth, transparency, ability to do right even in hostile environment. "This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister." (1 John .3.10.NIV)
There are two kinds of seeds according to Genesis 3:15: "I (God) will put enmity between your (serpent) seed and her (woman) SEED....." The two seeds cannot co-exist inside anyone of us. Which seed are you willing to let go?
Those truly born of God will not habitually live in sin but rather will be transformed into a new life reflecting God’s character. We should therefore, not take our salvation for granted. We should run away from sin
WORD: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
(1 Peter.2.9.NIV)
