PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
April 11th, 2025REPORTING THE ENEMIES.
After the healing of the lame man at the beautiful gate (Acts 3:1-10) by Peter and John, the deed attracted the crowd and gave the Apostles the opportunity to preach Christ the more. This drew the attention ".......of the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there, and so were Caiaphas, John, Alexander and others of the high priest’s family. They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?” (Act.4.5-7.NIV)
The elders at a crossroad, decided to release Peter and John. Why? The healing of the lame man was undeniable. The healing done in the name of Jesus which must have taken the elders through memory lane because they were the same people who demanded the death of Jesus. The crowd that witnessed the miracle.
"On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their VOICES TOGETHER IN PRAYER to God." (Acts 4:23-24a)
1. They acknowledged God: “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them." (Act.4.24b.NIV)
2. Reference to relevant bible verses: “ ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’
(Act.4.25-26.NIV)
3. Report the incident: "Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed." (Act.4.27.NIV)
4. Remind God of His Word/promise. "They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen." (Act.4.28.NIV)
5. The prayer request: "Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” (Act.4.29-30.NIV)
God's response was immediate. Their request was granted. We too, full of faith, should follow their pattern, not doubting and not asking for the heads of the enemies. Just state the facts of the case and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit.
