WHEN WE WANDER AWAY FROM GOD.
Wandering away from God could be a deliberate action or indelibrate, planned or unplanned, intentional or unintentional. The point is, we move away from His presence.
Does this means God cannot see you?
Absolutely no! "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" (Psa.139.7.NIV). Man has no hiding place from God.
It means you deliberately choose the world in His stead like the prodigal son and or you try to hide your sin like David did. Unconfessed sin can temporarily or permanently separates you from God depending on your level of stubbornness - hardened of your heart. It is one thing to be ashamed and embarrassed of your action, it is another thing entirely when you know what you did wrong but try to brave it. The later will be an act of defiance related to pride. You could be challenging God that you are right and He is wrong. Calling Him a liar!
Wandering away from God does not automatically cut you away from His provisions but may inform the withdrawal of your unseen security personnel. The edge around you may just be broken. The sound knowledge and wisdom previously at your disposal may be withdrawn. The peace and joy that boost your confidence may be replaced by a dampness you cannot shake off. Prayer time will become shorter and lacks its usual excitement. You may be temporarily stripped bare of your privileges.
"Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not you, God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?" (Psa.108.10-11.NIV)
Though the Prodigal son's wandering away was intentional, he found his way back home. It is noteworthy that there is no significant difference in God's punishment for intentional wandering away and unintentional wandering away from His presence. The real danger however, is not able to return back to the fold. That is eternal damnation.
Stay in His presence no matter what.
WORD: "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence." (Psa.91.1&3.NIV)
