CHARACTER MOULDING.
According to Romans 5:1-6, twice we glory in God.
1. We have peace with God. Meaning we have settled our differences, (that is what kept us apart), with God. There has been a reconciliation and this gives us immense joy and satisfaction that come from recognising and praising God's magnificence. "Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to SHARING GOD ’s GLORY." (Rom.5.1-2.NLT)
2. We also glory in God in tribulations. Our pains become our gains. We come out of each suffering, each denial, delays, disappointments, stronger and better than when we began. ".......we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." (Rom.5.3-5.NIV)
This "glory in God" which we received by faith into His GRACE - the finished work of reconciliation by Jesus Christ on the cross, we realise that truly, HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT for us (2 Cor. 12:9). It is sufficient both in peace and in suffering.
There is a kind of suffering that hardens people's hearts. The suffering born out of anger, bitterness, pride or rage. Suffering experienced through the loss of loved ones, cruelty from people that should protect, abandonment etc could turn people into hardened criminals. This kind of suffering destroys character not build character.
The suffering that moulds our character, turning us into better people can only be experienced when we have fully complied with John 3:16. When we come into His Glory.
The more we endure, patiently waiting upon God for solution, the more our faith grows, the more our hope becomes sight. Why? Because we are held together by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
THE WORD: “Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” And the Lord said, “I will cause ALL MY GOODNESS to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
