"IF WE SAY WE HAVE NO SIN,.........(1 John 1:10)
"If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us." (1 Jhn.1.10.NIV)
The Apostle John before concluding that whoever claims to be sinless makes God a liar, wrote that God is light and that there is no darkness in Him. This means we have no hiding place. But also importantly is the fact that such claim, in itself, is a lie, which means if the claim is a lie, it is a sin. In addition, the scriptures tells us that; "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
(Rom.3.23.NIV)
Many New Testament preachers tell us that when we give our lives to Jesus Christ and confessed Him as Saviour, all our sins fall away and we become new creatures. True, because Jesus died for our past, present, and future sins even for the sins of children yet unborn. The blood shed at Calvary covered all SIN on the condition that we confess our sins. HIDDEN SIN IS NOT FORGIVEN. Grace kicks in immediately we say the words - I know I am a sinner and seek His forgiveness. In that instance, if our confession matches the genuine repentance required, we are instantly forgiven of all past sins.
We are cleaned, made whole again. But that doesn't prevent us from falling into sin again. The Good News is we have the opportunity to confess our sins as many times as we fall into sin and we have a HELPER in the Holy Spirit who is more than willing to help us from falling back into sin, if we ask Him for help.
We cannot be over-confident about sinlessness because of two powerful scriptures. 1. Sin committed in thoughts is treated as fully grown Sin (Mat. 5:28). 2. Only those who endure to the end shall be saved (Mat. 24:13). God mercifully provided a way out - confess and be made whole again seventy times seven a day. It literally means limitless forgiveness, provided we confess them.
How do I know about this inner sins?
We know because we live in the light of the word of God. "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."
(1 John 1.7.NIV).
Unconfessed sin, is PRIDE driven
THE WORD: "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
(1 Cor.10.13.NIV)
