PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
July 4th, 2025HOW TO INVOLVE GOD IN OUR EVERYDAY DECISIONS.
King David's example.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they went up in full force to search for him, but David heard about it and went out to meet them. Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of God: “SHALL I GO AND ATTACK THE PHILISTINES? WILL YOU DELIVER THEM INTO MY HANDS?” The Lord answered him, “Go, I will deliver them into your hands.” (1 Chron.14.8-10.NIV)
Once more the Philistines raided the valley; SO DAVID INQUIRED OF GOD AGAIN, and God answered him, “Do not go directly after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” SO DAVID DID AS GOD COMMANDED HIM, and they struck down the Philistine army, all the way from Gibeon to Gezer." (1 Chron.14.13-16.NIV)
A reminder of Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. SEEK HIS WILL IN ALL YOU DO, and he will show you which path to take."
The only time Joshua did not seek God before making a decision (Joshua 9) cost Israel three years of famine and seven sons of Saul (2 Samuel 21) who were hung in Gibeah of Saul. (This was long after Joshua had died.)
We all pay heavy prices whenever we take decisions excluding God. Because we missed the ONLY WAY, the only authentic solution, to any issue irrespective of its seriousness or the lack of it. This is when we think five minutes is too long to stop and ask God for direction; but spend years cleaning the mess, the aftermath. Seek God in ALL your ways......
We have a choice to make; to obey His word or simply wear pride like a garment and disobey Him.
THE WORD: “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you."
(2 Chron.15.2.NI
