PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
Sept. 24th, 2025
GOD IS LOVE.
The Bible describes LOVE as the act of putting others before self. A selfless, active, and unconditional commitment to the well-being of others. It is not merely a feeling but a way of life characterised by patience, kindness, humility and perseverance often called 'agape'. Love is a sacrificial and enduring commitment that seeks truth, protects others and always perseveres. This reflects God's own love for humanity and more.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 details what LOVE is not.
God is Love from Genesis to Revelation. In Genesis chapter one alone, God demonstrated His love for mankind through His creations. He left nothing out to meet the needs of man.
Love is an attribute of God. Love is a core aspect of God’s character, His person. And it is in no conflict with His holiness, righteousness, justice, or even His wrath. All of God’s attributes are in perfect harmony. Everything God does is loving, just as everything He does is just and right. God is the perfect example of true love even when He disciplines us. "If God doesn’t discipline you as he does all of his children, it means that you are illegitimate and are not really his children at all." (Heb.12.8.NLT) Why?
"..........But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might SHARE in his HOLINESS. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But AFTERWARD THERE WILL BE A PEACEFUL HARVEST of right living for those who are trained in this way." (Heb.12.10-11.NLT) He disciplines us in love for the best and for us to be the best.
God further demonstrated His love - "God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins." (1 John.4.9-10.NLT) God is all about sacrifices to give us the desired end. Hence His plans for us is of good and not of evil.
Furthermore, all of God’s commandments are based on love. All the commandments oppose evil, fear, and wickedness. Hence Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. Forgiveness is Love.
THE WORD: “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God."
(1 John.4.7.NLT)
