RUNNING AWAY FROM GOD INSTEAD OF RUNNING TOWARDS HIM. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Dec. 29th, 2025

RUNNING AWAY FROM GOD INSTEAD OF RUNNING TOWARDS HIM.
When you have established a daily routine meeting with God but starts to find excuses for not maintaining your side of the routine or when the time of the meetings begin to dwindle, when the glow in your heart for the word of God grows dim, know that you are running away from God. Your routine meetings do not have to be a spoken agreement with God but an established pattern from you to spend quality time with Him. God is always delighted and always present in these meetings, in the power of the Holy Spirit. You know this because you enjoy the fellowship.

There is only one reason for keeping away from God; it is the sin of DISOBEDIENCE. And God cannot behold sin.

How do you know you are running away from God?
●When TV programs are more appealing than quiet time with God.
●When you rush the fellowship.
●When sleep becomes more urgent and there is need to postpone the fellowship.
●When you find excuses to avoid the meeting.

Consequences of running away from God:
Adam ran away when he listened to his wife instead of God. He was sent out of the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:1-23).
Cain ran away from God when he killed his brother Abel. He was cursed (Gen. 4:1-15)
Jonah ran into the mouth of the fish and was swallowed up. He remained in darkness for three days (Jonah 1:10-2:1-10)
David ran away from his assigned responsibility (the war front, prayer room) and ran into adultery. It stained his impeccable record (2 Sam.11:1-27)
King Saul ran away from God when he spared Agag, king of Amalekites and the best the sheep and oxen etc (1 Sam. 15:9)
The sons of Eli ran away from God for their evil deeds and they both died same day in the battle with the Philistines (1 Sam 4:1-11).
God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35)

Sin does not hide its presence in us. Our consciences acknowledge it and our bodies become heavy with guilt. But glory be to God who has given us a way out – genuine confession of sin and we are restored. Do not allow pride stand in your way of progress.

THE WORD: “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness." (1 John.1.9.NLT)
