GOD NEVER SLUMBERS OR SLEEP.
But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me.”
“Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” (Isa. 49:14-16 NLT)
CAN A WOMAN FORGET HER NURSING CHILD? Mothers hardly sleep when they are nursing babies. No woman forgets her children irrespective of age. They are constantly thinking, fussing, and do whatever they can to provide comfort for them. The truth is, we are all work-in-progress in the Lord. Like the clay in the hand of the Potter, God cannot abandon His unfinished work. He is God of perfection. Though Jesus declared on the cross that “it is finished”, the work of salvation is finished but not the work of molding, remolding, the teaching, training, protecting, providing, to conform to His image (Eph. 4:24). The Lord has said, He will not leave you, nor forsake you (Heb. 13:5). It is obvious that God cannot abandon anyone unless it is your desire that He does.
We are God’s children and it is impossible for Him to forget anyone of us. This means that you may not receive His immediate attention (like a woman with twins or triplets – they do not receive their mother’s attention at the same time.) It doesn’t mean that you are forgotten. May be this is why we are admonished to pray constantly, never giving up until we receive (Luke 18:1) like the unattended child keeps crying until his need is met.
"God does not sleep nor slumber" Psalm 121:3-4, this biblical truth, emphasizes God’s constant vigilance, eternal watchfulness, and tireless care over His people, contrasting divine awareness with human need for rest, assuring us of His unending presence and protection. “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:12 NLT)
God can never forget you. God can never abandon you as long as you keep calling on His name. God’s protection is all yours because He does not slumber, He does not sleep. Remember that you are a wok-in-progress. There is no quick fix. He only guarantees that He will fix you if you are a willing participant.
THE WORD: “Unless the Lord had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave. [18] I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me." (Psa.94.17-18.NLT)
