DON’T PULL DOWN THE HEDGE.
What is the Hedge?
In biblical literature, the term "hedge" is used both literally and metaphorically, appearing in various contexts throughout the Scriptures. A hedge, in its literal sense, refers to a fence or boundary made of bushes or thorny plants, serving as protection or a barrier. Metaphorically, it signifies DIVINE PROTECTION, SEPARATION, OR JUDGEMENT.
Satan stood before God to accuse Job of being devoted to God for purely self-serving motives. When God bragged on Job for being a righteous man, Satan said, “‘Does Job fear God for nothing?’ Satan replied. ‘Have You not put a HEDGE around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out Your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face. (Job 1:9-11 NKJV) In this passage, Satan requested God to remove His protection around Job so he can destroy Job.
Ecclesiastes 10:8: "He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him" (KJV), which warns that breaking spiritual or natural boundaries brings harm, often interpreted as breaking God's protective hedge through sin or disobedience, leading to spiritual danger, like a serpent biting. Breaching divine limits or natural laws results in negative consequences, with the "hedge" representing God's protective care and the "serpent" symbolizing spiritual peril or judgment.
God’s hedge around you is for your protection both spiritually and or physically. You can be separated from God’s protection by sinful acts. In which case, the hedge will no longer be for protection but for judgement. God can only shield us from all harms when we walk with Him in obedience. The hedge/wall God built around Job was impenetrable that Satan had to seek God’s permission because Job was a righteous man. Jesus Christ provides the same impenetrable hedge around you as a believer. “When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” (Luke 10:17 NLT) Because they obeyed every instruction Jesus gave them. (Read Luke 10:1-20) Your obedience guarantees your divine protection against all evil (Psa. 121:7-8) Let your help come from God and God only. “Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?” (Psa. 108:11 NKJV) The help of man is useless. Security and it's gadgets are useless.
THE WORD: “Now let me tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will tear down its hedges and let it be destroyed. I will break down its walls and let the animals trample it." (Isa.5.5.NLT)
