OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Jan. 2nd, 2026

OBEDIENCE IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE.
Disobedience is seen by God as an act of defiance against Him and He does not view this lightly. Disobedience is seen as REBELLION and REBELLION is like the SIN of DIVINATION.

What is divination?
In the Bible, divination is the practice of seeking hidden knowledge or future events through supernatural means, often involving demonic powers, witchcraft, or counterfeit spiritual practices, and is strictly forbidden by God as an abomination, linked to idolatry, rebellion, and false prophecy. TRUE PROPHECY COMES FROM GOD.

How does this affect you?
Whenever you seek to know what the future holds other than what is written in the Word – the Holy Bible, it is divination. Divination means you do not trust God. And without trust, there is no foundation for a relationship with God. King Ahaziah of Israel sent his servant to Ekron to consult the pagan god if he would recover from his sickness. God sent Elijah to intercept the servant and ask; “Is there no God in Israel that you send to consult Baal-Zebud?” (2 Kings 1:3-17) That king died. King Saul also consulted a medium – the witch of Endor – the result was that he too died same day with five of his sons (1 Sam.28:1-25). On the contrary, whenever David needed to know God’s mind on any issue, he sent for the EPHOD (1 Sam. 30:7). And in the New Testament, we rely on the Holy Spirit who reveals all things (John 14:26). God distantiates Himself from those who do not rely on Him or His promises completely.

Disobedience is an act of REJECTION and the rejection of God and His Word. “Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” (1 Sam. 15:23b NIV)

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord?” (1 Sam. 15:22a NIV) Does the Lord delight in our large sums of donations to the church as much as in obeying Him? Does He delight in the NGO that is born out of disobedience but wrapped in the façade of helping the poor? Does He delight in anything born from our selfish perspectives?

What did Jesus do and or say even in the face of death? Always that He came to do the Father’s will.

THE WORD: “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you." (John.14.15-16.NLT)
