PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin. “What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! You do not realize that it is better for you that one man dies for the people than that the whole nation perish.” (John 11:47-50 NIV) “So from that day on they plotted to take his life.”
These were the custodians of the Law/Scriptures - the written word - that prophesied and recorded the birth to the death of Jesus leaving nothing out in its path. Yet, they were the ones who orchestrated the killing of the Logos - the Living word of God, Jesus Christ. This goes to the heart of the saying that “a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.” (Mat. 10:36 NIV) and “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?” (Mat. 12:25-26 NIV) And eventually, the kingdom of the Sanhedrin collapsed a few years after the death of Jesus.
Jesus the substitutionary sacrificial Lamb, satisfying the divine wrath against sin while demonstrating God's righteousness, unlike the repetitive, temporary Old Testament sacrifices, Jesus's sacrifice is a singular, permanent act (Hebrews 9:28). This brings us to the truth spoken by Joseph; “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” (Gen. 50:20-21 NIV)
Jesus was willing to be the Lamb
The people were willing to sacrifice Him when they shouted crucify him
The priests were willing to sacrifice Him (one person) in place of the death of many nations.
Jesus was crucified outside the city walls of Jerusalem at Golgotha to fulfill Old Testament prophecy, acting as the ultimate sin offering, signifying his rejection by religious authorities, association with impurity, and the fulfillment of the Day of Atonement rituals where sin was removed from the camp. He was the perfect sacrifice.
“The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.” (Heb.13:11-12 NIV)
THE WORD: “Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” (Heb. 13:14-15 NIV)
