PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:” (2 Cor. 5:17-18 NIV)
The most difficult decision is deciding to return home after living in darkness for so long and during which time we only knew one master - the devil. Though it wasn’t that obvious that living in sin is living under the control of the devil or that we had wandered away so far from home. Having decided to return to the Father through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we expected to be in control of our life. Why? Because when we lived the disobedient life, we seemed to be in control of our thoughts and actions. We even boast that we own ourselves, our life and we can do whatever we like oblivious that we were managed by Satan.
Now that we are home, the first shock is that the rules of the game have changed. We are not in control of our lives. We returned as slaves not as sons and daughters. We need to earn the place of sonship - which is understandable because we were once in charge and we abused the trust. This is the beginning of the battle between the old self and the new (call it the pruning stage John 15:1-5). We go into our wilderness to learn obedience and many times we will rather go back to the old ways - that is the struggle and the doubt. But that is not an option. "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out" (John 6:37 NKJV). We stay, we learn and come out after conquering Jericho to take control of the promised land as sons and daughters of the Most High God. Jesus says: “ I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends,...” (John 15:15 NIV) New life the dead receive.
The old self operated under the Law of Works (self effort) while the new creation operates under the Law of Faith (trust in Jesus). “Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.” (Rom. 3:27-28 NIV)
THE WORD: “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2 NIV)
