PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will resettle your towns, and the ruins will be rebuilt. The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass through it.  They will say, “This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited.”  Then the nations around you that remain will know that I the Lord have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.” (Ezek. 36:33-36 NIV)


Isaiah 35 has similar messages of hope, prophecies/promises as in the above verses from the Book of Ezekiel. Some of us are in despair, confused, and may be believing that God has forgotten you. Some are facing shameful situations not because they should but because their current status is short of the families’ expectations. Some need healing but God seems far off. For some, it is where their next meal will come from. Abraham faced similar situations - he was homeless, he faced famine twice, he was childless, and a stranger where he lived. The Israelites in captivity felt abandoned too. Many of them lost hope after the second year in captivity. They spent seventy years. God didn’t forget them. The Shunammite woman was so damaged that she could not bear another promise of hope from Elijah (2 Kings 4:8-37). Zachariah waited for so long that he doubted the angel who brought him the news he had expected for years (Luke 1:11-20). The point is, when God says a thing, it will surely come to pass.


The suffering which manifested in “weak hands”, “feeble knees”, a “fearful heart”, obscured vision, hindered hearing, broken bodies, and silent tongues, (Isa. 35:3-6) will be comforted. The Good news is that God does not abandon His own people and He is a covenant/promise keeping God. “.....say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution HE WILL COME TO SAVE YOU.” (Isa. 35:4) The Lord is coming your way with your miracle.


Isaiah 35 is a Messianic prophecy fulfilled when Jesus read from the scroll in Luke 4:18-19. Jesus is the answer to all our problems. Take them all to Him in prayer.
