PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

When the Lord said: “I will not leave you nor forsake you”, was He talking to only the saved or to all mankind? If He was speaking only to the saved, why would He leave the ninety nine sheep to look for one lost sheep? Why would God ask Hosea, a prophet, to marry an unfaithful wife and to go after her even when she left - still unfaithful?


Adam betrayed God in the Garden. There is no specific verse in Genesis chapter three where Adam sought God’s forgiveness. Yet God did not abandon him; instead, God re-cloth him before sending him out of the garden. In fact, God sent Adam out of the garden to protect him more than to punish. “....He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” (this was the first opportunity at reconciliation)  So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.” (Gen. 3:22-24 NIV)


Born Again Christians, lukewarm Christians, and Christians only in name, are making a grievous mistake when we look down on sinners instead of rescuing them. Many people in the church display a cold attitude towards first timers and those who appear less than their expectations. The usual excuse is 2 Corinthians 6:14 - “do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.” The phrase serves as a warning against Christians entering into intimate, binding partnerships with non-believers. Otherwise, why will Jesus tell us to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Mat. 28:19 NIV) 


Jesus in answer to Peter’s question responded: “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Mat. 18:22 NIV) There is no set numerical limit to the number of chances you have at reconciling with God. As long as you are alive and maintain a truly repentant heart, God's grace and forgiveness are considered limitless. Why? Because God loves the world, not only those who have answered His call, and He gave His only begotten Son for all mankind (John 3:16). Nobody has the right to judge or condemn sinners. God already condemned Sin not the sinners yet. The sinner will have to totally reject reconciliation till the end to be condemned.


The danger is, the sinner has no control over when the end will come. Therefore, it is better to seek reconciliation now while there is still time.


THE WORD: “When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and their tongues are parched from thirst, then I, the Lord, will answer them. I, the God of Israel, will never abandon them.” (Isa. 41:17 NLT)
