PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Psalm 3 is a psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. It started as a prayer of someone in despair or deep anguish with little or no hope and the people around him were not helping. Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” But in reality, this Psalm is about total surrender to God Almighty. “Salvation belongs to the Lord. Your blessing is upon Your people.” (Psa. 3:8 NKJV)
“No king is saved by the multitude of an army; A mighty man is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.” (Psa. 33:16-17 NKJV) David recognizes that he cannot save himself. Even though he is a seasoned warrior and king, his ultimate security does not come from his military might, political strategies, or human allies. By declaring that deliverance belongs to God, David strips his enemies of their power and places all of his trust in the Creator.
It is not of man, neither by man; "not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that showeth mercy." May we all learn this truth experimentally, for our proud flesh and blood will never permit us to learn it in any other way. In the last sentence the peculiarity and speciality of salvation are plainly stated: "Thy blessing is upon thy people." Neither upon Egypt, nor upon Tyre, nor upon Nineveh; His blessing is upon His chosen, His blood-bought, His everlastingly-beloved people.
How frequently we take our eyes off the Lord and focus on our own mounting problems and the multitude of enemies that seem to accumulate outside our door. How often our trust in the Lord falters and we allow our hearts to fail within us, for fear of what is happening in our lives and the lives of those we love. How important it is to look to the Lord for our strength and rely upon Him to provide all that we need according to His riches in glory: "For His blessing is upon His people for eternity."
David was in serious trouble. The betrayal of his son drove him out of his palace. He could call his army but wasn’t sure who to trust. He turned all his problems to God. Jesus encourages us to do the same Matthew 6:25; 11:28.
Can anyone be totally free from problems? No. But your problem can be less of a problem if you know how to give it to Jesus Christ who has given us victory. Your peace is not the absence of problems but it is in knowing that you can do nothing about it without Jesus Christ.
THE WORD: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9 NKJV)
