PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

BE SHEPHERDS OF GOD'S FLOCK.
"To the elders among you, ...... Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;" (1 Pet. 5:1-2)
● This is the task the Lord Himself gave Peter when He told him to "feed My sheep" (John 21:15-17) not under compulsion, but voluntary, according to the will of God. Not as hireling or with greed but as the elect who have also benefited from such mentoring.
BE A SOURCE OF ENCOURAGEMENT.
"not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away." (1 Pet. 5:3-4)
● Lead by first living by the Word of God. Allow the love of God to be seen in you. Correct in love not by judging, or envy, or holier than though attitude. Fake elders are easily spotted.
CLOTHE YOURSELF WITH HUMILITY.
"In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time." (1 Pet.5.5-6.NIV)
● Respect is one of Christian's virtues and humility holds unique place in our faith. Arrogance has no place in the Christian's world. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
CAST ALL YOUR BURDEN ON GOD.
"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Pet.5.7.NIV)
● WE are encouraged to submit to God and then to one another. This puts us in a humbling position under God’s hand, trusting that He will lift us up. It involves actively handing over our worries and fears to Him, knowing that He cares more than words can tell.
STAY ALERT AND RESIST THE ENEMY.
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings." (1 Pet.5.8-9.NIV)
● BE self controlled and vigilant, pray constantly and consistently. The lesson here is to stand firm in your faith. This is not because you are not afraid but because you trust God that never fails. God is bigger than all our problems. You are not alone in your struggles; believers around the world are facing the exact same trials.
HOLD ON TO GOD'S PROMISES.
"And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen." (1 Pet.5.10-11.NIV)
● God promises to restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish us but after a season of suffering. A reminder that suffering or pain is temporary, and ultimate strength and glory belong to Him.
THE WORD: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Act.1.8.NIV)
