PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Now, when it comes to the gift of God's grace, there is a cost, and it was paid by Someone. It was paid for by Christ. A tremendous price was paid for that gift. The gift of grace is also, not, a no strings attached gift. We didn't understand that there are strings attached to that gift. There are things that we must do as the recipients of that gift of grace. One of those things is the cost of discipleship.
Jesus Himself asks - “ If one of you is planning to build a tower, you sit down first and figure out what it will cost, to see if you have enough money to finish the job. If you don't, you will not be able to finish the tower after laying the foundation; and all who see what happened will make fun of you. ‘You began to build but can't finish the job!’ they will say. If a king goes out with ten thousand men to fight another king who comes against him with twenty thousand men, he will sit down first and decide if he is strong enough to face that other king……. ” concluded Jesus, “NONE OF YOU CAN BE MY DISCIPLE UNLESS YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING YOU HAVE.” (Luke 14:28-33 GNT) Count the cost of accepting grace. It is life for life. Jesus gave up His life, we ought to do the same.
The Psalmist adds: “Lord, I have GIVEN UP MY PRIDE AND TURNED AWAY FROM MY ARROGANCE. I am not concerned with great matters or with subjects too difficult for me. Instead, I am content and at peace. As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms, so my heart is quiet within me. Israel, trust in the Lord now and forever!” (Ps. 131:1-3 GNT) Please read that again. He is content just to TRUST in the Lord - total surrender. We ought to do the same.
So, what is the demand of grace? “Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well. Those who do not carry their own cross and come after me cannot be my disciples.” (Luke 14:26-27 GNT) Why? Because Jesus loved us more than His own life. We ought to love Him more than ours too.
Whatever we cannot surrender, has become an active rival to Christ. Revisit the story of the RICH YOUNG RULER (Mat. 19:16-22) So, what is keeping you from following Jesus Christ WHOLEHEARTEDLY? There is a promise attached to whatsoever we surrender to Him - everlasting TREASURE. Jesus said to them, “and I tell you that those who leave home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and for the gospel, will receive much more in this present age. They will receive a hundred times more houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and fields—and persecutions as well; and in the age to come they will receive eternal life.” (Mark 10:29-30 GNT) So, what have you got to lose? LIFE FOR LIFE IS LIFE ABUNDANTLY.
THE WORD: “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” (Luke 14:34-35 NIV)
