PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
July 25th, 2026.
“The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.” (Psa. 37:14-15 NIV)
Did you know that David had no sword when he approached Goliath? He had only his sling, a smooth pebble, and the word of God. Goliath was totally dressed in war gear with spear, sword, shield etc.with the assurance and confidence in himself that David was a piece of meat. Did you know that after Goliath fell down and died, David used Goliath’s sword to cut off his head? (1 Sam. 17:40-47) The words of Psalm 37:14-15
This takes us back to Genesis 3:15 - “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
“Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made.The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads.” (Psa. 7:15-16 NIV)
“The nations (the Philistines, the giants, terrorists) have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden. The Lord is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.” (Psa. 9:15-16 NIV)
Let’s move to the Cross at Calvary where evil struck Jesus’ feet nailing both on the cross and then applied the final blow with DEATH. The enemy thought that was the end of the story because death is the finality of everything, the curse of Genesis 3:15, and the poison from the serpent’s strike was working . But in just three days, death was swallowed up by death (the hole the enemy dug). Jesus came out of the tomb alive - the final blow and the crushing of the serpent’s head. The serpent was rendered powerless. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Cor. 15:55) For those who trust in the Lord, it is death for life not death for death.
Finally we go back to the words of Joseph: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is NOW BEING DONE, THE SAVING OF MANY LIVES.” (Gen. 50:20 NIV)
GOD HONOURS THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM.
THE WORD: The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deut. 31:8 NIV)
