PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Eph. 6:16 NIV)
"Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth". (Psa. 127:4)
It is a fact that arrows cause wounds which cause us pains. There is no other way this truth can be softened. Arrows in God’s are a powerful symbol of divine judgment, wrath, and swift justice against the unrepentant. An arrow spiritually symbolizes focus, direction, purpose, and protection. An arrow in the enemy’s hand is deadly and only aims at destroying the innocent. Arrows can be - "Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully……” (Jer. 9:8)
An archer must shape, straighten, and sharpen an arrow so also God prepares us for challenges in the world. Every parent trains their children for the same purpose - equipping them with the necessary defence mechanism before exposing them to the world. An arrow will not shoot itself hence the ability for us to surrender to God is paramount. Any careless calculation means that the enemy’s arrow hits first.
Job wrote: "For the arrows of the Almighty are in me, my spirit drinks in their poison; God's terrors are marshaled against me." (Job 6:4 NIV) Man has no shield against God’s arrow. The only shield available is obedience to His instructions.
The Psalmist wrote: "For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.” (Psa. 11:2) This one can be prevented using the shield of FAITH. "You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day," (Psa. 91:5) “......Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Eph. 6:16 NIV)
Being an arrow in God's hand means you are a prepared tool chosen by God to hit a specific target and make an impact. God keeps you hidden while He prepares you for combat. God keeps you safe while He builds your character. God removes your flaws through hard times and patience. He trains you to speak truth and show love clearly. An arrow cannot fly on its own power. You must wait for God to choose the direction. God decides when and where you move.
If this is so, why does the enemy’s arrow sometimes hit?
When you lose focus. The world is a constant battlefield, pray always, remain under His protective banner. Stop dwelling in the tents of those who hate peace (Ps. 120)
THE WORD: "He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver".(Isa. 49:2)
