PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Psa. 34:19 NKJV)
Two days ago, on the Topic - ‘Why do the righteous suffer’, I concluded that “.., suffering for the righteous is training so that our hands can bend a bow of bronze. (Psa. 18:34) Our spines are straighter, our faith stronger, God becomes our first in everything.” Trials act as a refining fire that builds spiritual maturity, patience, and inner strength. Hardships strip away self-reliance, teaching individuals to depend more fully on God rather than comfortable circumstances. So, when David, the writer of Psalm 34 concluded that many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from THEM ALL, he was not talking about punishment for sin committed (apparently, no sin was committed here) but about the anointing of God - the arrow in God’s hand.
David was a young shepherd boy when his father sent him to deliver food packages to his older brothers who were in the Israel army. It was during this errand that he saw Goliath and decided to fight him - a man that the whole of Israel army feared to challenge. David killed Goliath in the name of the Lord. He would later be engaged to play the harp for KIng Saul whenever the king was under demonic attacks. In addition to this, he was enrolled in the army and fought alongside the king that he became a legend. The women sang about his conquests - Saul killed a thousand, David killed ten thousand. Saul decided to kill David. Saul chased him throughout the country until David found his way out of the Country and went to Gath, a Philistine city. The people of Gath recognised him and declared him an enemy who killed Goliath. David had to feign madness to escape death. King Achish sent him away and so and again, David escaped death. He wrote Psalm 34 in appreciation of what the Lord did for him. The afflictions were many, (1 Sam.17-30) but he was not defeated.
Like David, Job, Jeremiah, Paul and many who carry God’s anointing, faced profound trials, betrayals, and physical pain. Choosing to live with integrity often brings direct friction or resistance from a broken world. THE GOOD NEWS IS; THE LORD DELIVERS US FROM ALL THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE ENEMY. “All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down. They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down. They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the Lord I cut them down. I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.” (Psa. 118:10-13 NIV) YOU HAVE TO BE IN GOD’S CAMP.
THE WORD: “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.” (Psa. 118:6-7 NIV)
