PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

"You shall have no other gods before Me. "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me," (Exo.20:3-5 NKJV)
The Bible mentions several specific false gods and idols worshiped by neighboring nations or adopted by the Israelites, including Baal: (1 Kings 18). Asherah: (Exodus 34:13-14).Ashtoreth (Astarte): (1 Kings 11:5).Molech (Molek): Chemosh: (1 Kings 11:7). Dagon: (1 Samuel 5:2-4) Mammon: A New Testament personification representing the greedy pursuit of material wealth or money (Matthew 6:24). Self: The 5 "I Will" statements of Satan in Isaiah 14:13-14.
Modern day idolatry: Somehow, we have brought back these idols not in the form they were in the Old Testament but as abstract priorities, desires, and systems that people treat with ultimate devotion. For example, the worship of Baal, Asherah, and Ashtoreth, associated with sexual fertility can be seen in the way we have thrown caution to the wind and claim that our bodies are ours and we can do whatever we like with it. We see how what was once forbidden have come to be legalised and passed into law. We have forgotten or we do not know the deeds of Sodom and Gomorrah. Molech (Molek) is associated with child sacrifice and today, that is hidden in abortion of “unwanted pregnancy". We sacrifice the unborn children, the abandoned children for our self indulgence. Mammon - The worship of money, status symbols, and the endless pursuit of the "newest" gadget or luxury good. The drive for wealth and material possessions often supersedes spiritual or relational well-being. Obsessing over musicians, actors, or social media personalities. Self - Placing one's own ego, career success, or personal desires above all else. Self-aggrandizement and the prioritization of personal independence can become an individual's primary focus. Treating cell phones and online platforms as essential lifelines. Elevating political figures, parties, or ideologies to a sacred level, where winning political battles becomes more important than virtues like grace and compassion.
“Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” (1 Cor. 10:14) "For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world" (1 John 2:16 NIV) "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry" (Col. 3:5)
