PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh…….The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” (Gen. 2:21, 23)
From the moment that God took out one of Adam’s ribs, Adam was no longer whole without ONE of his ribs. Out of that rib, God made a woman. When Adam came out of the anesthesia, God presented him with what He made and immediately, Adam claimed ownership. This, he said, is my bone and my flesh; I will call her woman - not man. Why?
It was his bone. She was made out of one of his bones. So, naturally, Adam owned his own. Is this not the same reason we claim that the children from the union of the man and woman are theirs? We claim to own our children. If we want to be honest with ourselves, throughout the Bible, we see women a little less seen than men. The Bible refers to women as the weaker vessel. "Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel…..” (1 Pet. 3:7)
Men and women alike, love to change the natural structures to fit our own desires and goals. God sets a specific order for the universe. Human pride or ambition leads people to break that order. Some view these changes as a natural part of human learning, while others see them as a step away from truth. Whichever way, we are living with the consequences of our actions. To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in
childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife (you allowed her to lead/control) and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.” (Gen. 3:16-17)
The truth is, it is only in Jesus Christ that men and women are made whole and seen as individuals not half or three quarters of another. Why? Because while Adam gave a part of himself, Jesus gave His all. We are made whole in him and Him alone. “ For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him…….” (Col. 2:9-10) Adam’s bone was broken; Jesus’ bones were not broken. In Adam, we populate the earth. In Jesus, we populate the kingdom of God by saving souls. In both cases the flesh rotted because "that no flesh should glory in his presence" (1 Cor. 1:29)
It is greatly to our disadvantage when we try to re-organise God’s order and plans.
