DO ALL THINGS TO THE GLORY OF GOD. (1 Cor. 10:31) - Devotional

 

A brother narrated his experience on a video recently about how he could have become so financially rich but at the cost of his conscience and what he stood for over the years. He had been an evangelist of ethical leadership and the invitation to do what he does best was a trap so that the corrupt people will have evidence that no one is clean in our society. Fortunately for the brother, he was able to remain on the Lord’s side.

I came across two important scriptures that should guide us in most of our decisions if not in all our decisions when it comes to glorifying God.
1. "You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies." (1 Cor.6.20.NIV)
This is deep and it means we no longer belong to ourselves but to Him that paid the price for our freedom! The ONLY alternative is to honour Him and let all that we do confirm that we are a good buy. Failure to glorify God in all we do will lead to the loss
of that freedom and we go back to the dumpster.
To glorify God is not about lifting up holy hands alone but that our character should show that we are truly born of a righteous Father.

2. for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
(1 Cor.10.26.NIV)
All foods, animals or plants are all the works of God’s hand. Nothing grows without His word. This is why Paul wrote: "Eat whatever is sold in the market, asking no question." (1 Cor. 10:25). The exception to this is when told that this was offered to idols or you have knowledge that the food presented was offered to idols. If your conscience is against it, do not sell out your freedom by eating it. DO NOT BE CORRUPT AND DON’T CORRUPT OTHERS.
God said to Peter eat and he replied, "I have never eaten anything unclean." God rebuked him instantly saying; "what God has cleansed, do not call unclean." Receive it with thanksgiving as Paul advised Timothy. "For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,"

In like manner, it is written: "This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.
(Psa.118.24. NKJV)
Every day is the Lord’s and February 14th is not an exception. Let us show Christ-like love today and always. We should be motivated to bring glory to God in everything we do or choose not to do.
