What is justice?
Justice is actually treating others as you want them to treat you. "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." (Mat.7.12.NIV). This is called - THE GOLDEN RULE.But does this rule depicts humans sense of justice?
Absolutely not. As humans, justice has many angles to it. Justice changes colour as many times as we desire. Justice is what favours us or seems to favour us in the moment. This is why we talk with both mouths and we change or switch or move the goal post as we deemed fit. Because justice to the natural man is an eye for an eye. The irony of this is, we can take out somebody's eye but we do not want ours to be taken out. We want to acquire wealth but want others to be poor. We want to live while we seriously do not care if others die.
God gave Moses a set of rules called the commandments to give us boundaries and to keep us within the boundaries. But did it work?
It did partially. Some of us found a way round it to create a divide. 'All animals are equal; but some are more equal than the others.' Probably untouchable. This is what we call justice or our sense of justice.
Does this sense of justice or entitlement change after we surrendered our lives to Jesus Christ? This is for each of us to decide where we are on this scale of assessment.
Apart from the GOLDEN RULE, how else can we be just? We are not God and therefore we lack the capacity to love like He does. We lack the ability to see or to know others' thoughts. We are not adequately equipped even to share territories. But
All these should change dramatically when we are in Christ - as new creatures. Does it?
Where leaders build protective walls to shield themselves from the people who were/are their ladders to success! Where some can kill others for the sake of their spouse?!
What is your sense of justice? What is your driving force, love or fear?
WORD: "Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” (John.21.18.NIV)
