WHOEVER HAS YOUR HEART; HAS YOU! - Devotional

The heart is where our emotions and desires dwell. It is a vital organ both physically and spiritually in our lives and it is given a very prominent place in the Scriptures. It is so important that everyone and everything around us longs for a place in the heart.

Whatever is not in the heart does not 'exist' kind of.
Jesus said; "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Mat.6.21.NIV). Whatever you treasure will inevitably capture your heart.

The heart is very tender and vulnerable. Maybe it is why it is hidden in the inner most part of the body. In its physical form  it has no bones and in its spiritual form, it has the word of God as its strength. Otherwise,  it shifts with every movement of the wind. "Do not let truth and mercy leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart...........Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding." (Prov.3.3-5.NET). This is what God desires for the heart of man. BUT
"The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" (Jer.17.9.NIV). Therefore, the heart is subject to manipulation. Whoever or whatever you allow into your heart, takes control and directs your path. "A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart." (Mat.12.35.NLT). The heart reflects who we are.

David prayed, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psa.51.10.NIV). A man after God's own heart fell because he gave his heart to temptation. The devil knows man's heart very well and he manipulates it (if allowed) constantly. Whoever controls you heart becomes your god even if momentarily.

Do you want to know who or what you opened your heart to? Then, listen to your conversation because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And that is who or what controls you. (Work, spouse, children,  investment,  sickness, word of God, devil, bitterness, tv programs, social media etc). You may be unpleasantly surprised that God is not in control of your heart.

WORD: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." (Mat.5.8.NIV)
