PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
April 29th, 2025IMPERFECT TO PERFECT.
We are often told that life is a journey. How true!
But where are we coming from and where are we going? Every journey has a beginning and an end otherwise it will be an unending cycle of wandering aimlessly through life.
One thing is certain, we are born; and someday, we die. Our journey starts from cradle to the grave. We do not wear this fact on a day-to-day basis. We settle quickly into the routine of survival, we stop thinking of the end. We become so 'comfortable' that we soon forget that here is not our destination. We abandon the journey but the journey never abandons us.
In this life-journey, we grow from imperfection to perfection. This is evident that we are not born perfect. We have defects both physically and spiritually. "And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway." (Rom.7.18-19.NLT)
If we were perfect, God will not instruct Adam not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:17). He will automatically know. And or there will be no need to have that tree in the garden. This is more obvious when we read; "what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? YOU HAVE MADE THEM A LITTLE LOWER than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor." (Psa.8.4-5.NIV)

Is this a bad thing? No, it is not. Rather it is a journey leading us to perfection by choice not by force "to give us a future and a hope"(Jer. 29:11). And this 'future and hope' is in Jesus Christ, who was made and born perfect collaborating the fact we grow from imperfection to perfection (ONLY BY CHOICE). "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." (Phil.1.6.NLT)
When David was anointed king, God didn't choose him because he was perfect but because he was OBEDIENT. And same goes for each and everyone of us. Our right into His presence is by obedience not perfection (John 3:16).
WORD: "But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect." (Mat.5.48.NLT)
