PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.April 20th, 2025
THERE WAS NO RELIGION IN THE GARDEN!
There was in the Garden, only God and His creations and a special bond with the man He formed out of the ground. When revisiting Genesis 2, we see a picture perfect Father and son interaction between God and Adam. God as the Shepherd and Adam as the sheep lacking nothing.
"Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed........[19] Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. HE BROUGHT THEM TO THE MAN TO SEE WHAT HE WOULD NAME THEM; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
(Gen.2.8-19.NIV). [20] But for Adam no suitable helper was found. [22] Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man" (Gen.2.20-22.NIV).
This was purely a RELATIONSHIP. Communication was direct. The needs of Adam was anticipated before he asked. The interaction was seamless, no barriers, no obstacles, no curtains, no priest, no prophet, no temple, no ceremonies, just God pure and raw interacting with man. The presence of God must have filled the Garden to the delight of the inhabitants with no condition attached but a commandment: “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Gen.2.16-17.NIV)
Later, this Relationship was terminated or put on hold because the first Adam disobeyed God.
Then, the suffering of Jesus and His cry on the Cross - IT IS FINISHED restores the RELATIONSHIP. The temple curtain (a barrier) was torn from top to bottom and man can once again stand in the presence of God unhindered.
JESUS, the Tree of Life, that stood in the middle of the Garden, finally returned man to his original post.
This is why Christianity is NOT A RELIGION BUT A RELATIONSHIP. To make it a religion is to make nonsense of the work of the Cross. No intermediaries ONLY JESUS AND ONLY IF YOU BELIEVE. The Believers have only one task: Go into the world, preach, teach, baptize in the name of Jesus. This is similar to the simple task God assigned Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (v. 15)
TAKE CARE OF HIS SHEEP.
WORD: “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Heb.4.14-16.NIV)
