WHO SET THE CURSE ON DAVID IN MOTION?
After David's sin was exposed by Nathan the prophet, the Lord said, "Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.’ “This is what the Lord says: ‘OUT OF YOUR OWN HOUSEHOLD I AM GOING TO BRING CALAMITY ON YOU..........." (2 Sam.12.10-11.NIV)

Amnon, David's first born, loved Tamar, David's daughter and his half-sister.  Instead of approaching Tamar directly or their father, David with his thoughts and desire, he shared his agony with his friend and adviser,  Jonadab, son of Shimeah. Shimeah was one of David's older brothers and that made Jonadab and Amnon cousins.

JONADAB'S ROLE:
“Go to bed and pretend to be ill,” Jonadab said. “When your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘I would like my sister Tamar to come and give me something to eat. Let her prepare the food in my sight so I may watch her and then eat it from her hand.’ ” (2 Sam.13.5.NIV)

Jonadab's advice set in motion series of disasters.
The rape of Tamar that led to Absalom's (David's third son and Tamar's brother) determination to kill Amnon. Two years later, the opportunity presented itself. Absalom killed Amnon and then fled. On his return three years later, he planned to overthrow his father. He declared himself king, and David had to abdicate his throne and ran. Absalom slept with his father's concubines openly as prophesied by Nathan.

War broke out between David's men and Absalom's and Absalom died in that conflict. David's household was never the same. (2 Sam. 13 to 18)
"a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ (Mat.10.36.NIV)

Who is your friend, confidant, adviser? Lean on God and trust Him rather than trust in man.

WORD: To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd." (2 Sam.22.26-27.NIV)
