BE STILL. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

May 2nd, 2025

BE STILL.
Imagine a chaotic situation in a hospital and you have an emergency case, you wait. Whilst waiting, what is the state of your mind? It is unsettling. There is a dam of anxiety waiting to burst. You are a complete nervous wreck because you are thinking of the worst not the best. Though you are waiting, you are not still. To be still is characterized by an inner calm, quiet, unmoved presence in the face of the storm. "Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!" (Psa.46.3.NLT).

How can you stay calm?
Be still - works with faith not fear. With trust rather than doubt. Be still relies on God's promises not self-solution. Be still is an inner strength, power, and assurance you ordinarily do not possess. "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; GOD WILL HELP HER AT BREAK OF DAY." (Psa.46.4-5.NIV). Meaning that weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. God promises not to leave you, not to abandon you whether in the storm or in the wilderness. "The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." (Psa.46.7.NIV)
YOUR TRUST MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

The ninth plague in Egypt brought total darkness. "During all that time the people could not see each other, and no one moved. BUT THERE WAS LIGHT AS USUAL WHERE THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL LIVED." (Exo.10.23.NLT) This was not an isolated case. The same God is still on His Throne.

"But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
(Exo.14.13-14.NLT)

Be still is an inner peace, an act of total surrender which allows God to demonstrate His power and glory through you.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
(Psa.46.10.NIV)

WORD: "Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.......For we live by faith, not by sight." (2 Cor.5.5&7.NIV)
