Christianity is rooted in the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came from heaven to earth, lived among men and was sinless. He was accused falsely, beaten, crucified and died for the redemption of souls - that is, a reconnection with God. Christianity is a process of spiritual and physical cleansing and healing qualifying the believers for eternal life. Christianity is people oriented, a relationship between God and humans.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of computer science that focuses on creating machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. This includes tasks like learning, problem-solving, decision-making, and understanding language. In essence, AI aims to simulate human intelligence in machines. (AI Overview)
While Christianity is about God and man, AI is about machines built by and controlled by man. This takes us right to the door steps of Isaiah 44:9-20.
How can AI affect the Christian community?
In outreach which is the core responsibility of all Christians. It is a tool that can be used to enhance communications and it can reach many more people than the individuals can.
Is it God's will for His people to interact more with machines than directly with Him? What will be the role of the Holy Spirit? How do we know when AI becomes an idol instead of mere tool - when we shift reliance on God to machine?
"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.: (1 Cor.13.1.NLT)
What should the Christians do?
One thing is certain, Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (Mat.19.26.NLT). There is a greater knowledge in God and with God that has to do with souls and the spirit. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. (2 Tim.3.16-17.NLT). Not superficially.
AI maybe good but we must know its limitations and be guarded. It is a tool, not God and it is artificial.
THE WORD: "So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Heb.13.6.NLT)
