PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.May 6th, 2025
CONFRONTED BY THREE ENEMIES DAILY. Who are these three enemies that make life harder for believers? 1. The WORLD - "Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world." (1 John.2.15-16.NLT)
2. The FLESH - "For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want." (Gal.5.17.NIV)
3. The DEVIL - "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Pet.5.8.NIV; John 14:30)
The world represents hostility to God. She is blind to the truth. She loves war and hates peace. She is in opposition to everything that Jesus came to accomplish. Jesus prayed for God's protection on all His followers saying, 'they are in the world but not for the world.' The world symbolizes External forces in dark corners.
The flesh on the other hand is our internal forces or torments that would rather disobey than obey God. It is a constant struggle. The flesh is sinful nature and loves in immorality. It rejects the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The reason why we must be grounded in the Word of God to tame the flesh.
The Devil represents the spiritual enemy, unseen but constantly at work. And his only aim is to win more souls for hell's destruction. His method; deceit!
The three enemies were present from the time of Adam's fall. World, the seeds of Adam. Flesh, represented by Eve. The Devil, represented by the serpent.
No one can overcome these enemies without the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit. Seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13).
WORD: "Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live." (Rom.8.12-13.NIV)
