SUFFERING FROM GRASSHOPPER MENTALITY! (Num. 13:33)
What is grasshopper mentality?
"We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” (Num.13.33.NLT)

First, the Lord said to Moses: “Send out men to explore the land of Canaan, THE LAND I AM GIVING TO THE ISRAELITES. Send one leader from each of the twelve ancestral tribes.” (Num.13.2.NLT) Moses did as commanded.

The twelve people selected went into the land of Canaan and they spent forty days there, searching the land, eating, sleeping, and walking about freely even though they were spies (Num. 13:21-23). They brought back fruits carried by two of them on a pole! They didn't show or expressed any fear when they were there. Yet, ten of these men gave an after thought evil report of the land (Num. 13:31-32). "So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge." (Num.13.32.NLT) In forty days, the land did not devour them!

Why do we always choose bad over good?
Why do we always forget the wonders God did in the past?
Why do we always undermine the power of God?

Again, what is grasshopper mentality?
It is undermining God's ability, power, and might. It is reducing God to the size of man. It is the doubting of your ability and infecting others by sowing the seed of doubt. It is having a form of godliness but denying its power (2 Tim. 3:5)

And for these reasons, God declared; "not one of those who saw my glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness but who disobeyed me and tested me ten times— not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it. (Num.14.22-23.NIV) Was the price they paid worth their denial?
The land was already theirs not by power or their might but by His Spirit. Israel later fought hard for the land. They still occupy it today. Those who were terrified then, are now the super power in the Middle East.

All that is required from us is Trust and Obey especially when the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

THE WORD: “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. [12] I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” (Psa.77.11-12.NIV)
