YOU CAN SERVE THE BEST; YET LEARN NOTHING!
Joshua served Moses. He showed remarkable faith, dedication and commitment to God and Moses that he took over from Moses and led the nation, Israel, into the promised land.

Likewise, Elisha served Elijah diligently that he received double the anointing of his master. His faith was unwavering. His love for his master, dedication to details and commitment to God separated him from other prophets.

Gehazi served Elisha, the prophet with more anointing than the powerful, fire brand Elijah, yet learned nothing. When the Son of the Shunammite woman died and she confronted Elisha, Elisha said to his servant, Gehazi, “Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand and run. Don’t greet anyone you meet, and if anyone greets you, do not answer. Lay my staff on the boy’s face.” (2 Ki.4.29.NIV). But "Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, “The boy has not awakened.”

A similar scenario played out when a man took his son to the disciples then reported to Jesus; "I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” (Mat.17.16.NIV). The disciples had the decency to ask Jesus why? “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” (Mat.17.19.NIV). Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." (Mat.17.20.NKJV).

There we have it. Our unbelief stops evangelism in its track. A part of evangelism is to feed the people with physical food while sharing the word. Another part of evangelism is to heal the sick while sharing the word. Yet, while we claim to be 'born again' learning at the feet of the BEST TEACHER but cannot heal or lay hand, we need to question ourselves. We have written evidence of what we can do. "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;  they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark.16.17-18.NKJV).

Do you have faith, dedication and commitment to perform miracles or is it still what you can get from Jesus?
