"DO NOT LOOK BACK." - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
June 12th, 2025

"DO NOT LOOK BACK."
Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luk.9.62.NLT) WHY?
"...........Because the Kingdom of God is within you.” (Luk.17.21b.GNT)

What does that mean?
It means; "For God's Kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of the righteousness, peace, and joy which the Holy Spirit gives. And when you serve Christ in this way, you please God and are approved by others." (Rom.14.17-18.GNT)

The kingdom of God looks nothing like this world in which we physically reside. It is another world entirely (at least for now), not seen with the physical eyes but within the believer's mind and only accessible through the spiritual eyes. Not only that, the living arrangements in this kingdom that is within you, is the direct opposite of how the world we see operates. You are also forbidden to look back. That is, you cannot bring into the kingdom within you the operations of the outside world. For example, in the kingdom within you, no place for lying , no anger, no hatred, only LOVE. To re-introduce hatred, a life you once lived, into the kingdom within you is LOOKING BACK! This applies to all the works of the flesh:- "sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD." (Gal.5.19-21.NIV) Jesus Christ reminded all in Luke 17:32; "Remember Lot's wife." (Reference Genesis 19:26)

When the Israelites, in the wilderness, demanded to return to Egypt, they craved for the food and even the gods of the Egyptians, (Egypt rep. the world) they were struck with deadly plague. God provided them their heart desires but at a deadly cost. "But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the Lord burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague." (Num.11.33.NIV)

Looking back is

THE WORD: If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God." (Heb.10.26-27.NIV)
(Read also Jeremiah 42:15-19)
