SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

June 13th, 2025

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.
Following the leader and following blindly caused numerous people's downfall even unto eternal death. But some may argue that God said: "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves." (Rom.13.1-2.NIV).

To put this in perspective, Paul added, "This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor." (Rom.13.6-7.NIV) These are state matters and or our civic responsibilities.

There are many Kings in the Bible who led their people into idol worship. There are numerous examples of rulers who turned away from God and embraced foreign deities and practices. In all the cases, God never separated the people who followed the rulers to worship idols from His judgment. This speaks directly to the fact that church matters and civic responsibilities are two separate issues. Hence Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” (Mark.12.17.NIV)

Where your leaders, elders, pastors are leading you away from the true service of God, you need to leave that environment. You may ask; how do I know? You know when you study the bible, when you cross check what is written to what is taught/said/practiced. The Bereans example (Acts 17:10-12).

The point is, don't go down with the leader. Ignorance is no excuse! There are many false pastors, prophets, leaders, teachers, wolves in sheepskin in many mega and smaller churches spread through out the nation. Keep a watchful eyes and attentive ears. Listen and verify. Do not be a lazy Christian. Protect yourself from ending up in eternal fire.

THE WORD: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Mat.7.21.NIV)
