ARM YOURSELF WITH PRAISE AND WIN WARS.
One of the most difficult things to do in the face of fear and terror is to praise God. This was exactly what king Jehoshaphat of Judah did when, "After this, (his reforms) the armies of the Moabites, Ammonites, and some of the Meunites declared war on Jehoshaphat." (2 ch.20.1.NLT). These were all the surrounding nations - they were a great multitude. Judah was trapped and Jehoshaphat feared as he should. But he set himself immediately to SEEK GOD. He declared a fast throughout all Judah. While the enemies were advancing,
Jehoshaphat and his people stood before the Lord fasting and praying. This was in perfect harmony with Proverbs 3:6; "Seek his (GOD'S) will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." (NLT)
While they were worshipping God, God responded through Jahaziel saying; “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s..........BUT YOU WILL NOT EVEN NEED TO FIGHT. TAKE YOUR POSITIONS; THEN STAND STILL AND WATCH the Lord’s victory. He is with you,......... Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” (2 Chron.20.15-17.NLT)
So, the next day, they marched out after Jehoshaphat had consulted with the people, not with bows and arrows but with muscical instruments. "He appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” (2 Chron.20.21.NLT). "So when the army of Judah arrived at the lookout point in the wilderness, all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground as far as they could see. Not a single one of the enemy had escaped" (2 Chron.20.24.NLT). It took Judah three days gathering the spoil because they were too much. They blessed God.
Peter wrote: "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you" (1 Pet.5.7.NLT)(Mat 11:28; 6:33; Exo. 14:14). How easy and convenient life will be if only we trust God enough to do the possible and seemingly impossible for us? Unfortunately, we prefer to destroy ourselves with worries, anxiety to trusting God.
THE WORD: "In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you." (Isa.54.14-15.NIV)
