WHO CAN DEFEAT THE WORLD?
"Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God."
(1 John.5.5.GNT) WHY? BECAUSE JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.

"This is how the judgment works: the light has come into the world, but people love the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds are evil. Those who do evil things hate the light and will not come to the light, because they do not want their evil deeds to be shown up. But those who do what is true come to the light in order that the light may show that what they did was in obedience to God.
(John.3.19-21.GNT)

Another way to see the world and those who belong to it is the desire to accumulate material possessions. All material possessions come from below, that is the earth. The world has an insatiable desire to hoard earthly wealth. More concerned about physical appearances, real estate, money stacked away, automobiles, exotic food, living full life here on earth, never given any serious thoughts to the hereafter, sicknesses, accidents, the unforeseen and unplanned (Mat. 6:25). While the spiritual/light is more humane, compassionate, always more concerned about other people, loving, sharing, and looking up to heaven. "He who comes from above is greater than all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks about earthly matters, but he who comes from heaven is above all." (John.3.31.GNT).

The world cannot defeat itself. Otherwise, it will be 'a house divided against itself.' Only the LIGHT can defeat darkness. Only the light can consume material things. And only those who believe in the light can be call the children of God. Only the Children of God can inherit the earth and much more. Even those who have milk it dry (the earth) because of their greed, cannot inherit it.
"Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is a child of God; and whoever loves a father loves his child also. This is how we know that we love God's children: it is by loving God and obeying his commands." (1 John.5.1-2.GNT)

Those who obey God's commandments love God. Those who disobey His commandments, hates Him. They cannot be called the children of God.
We have a choice to make.

THE WORD: "For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith." (1 John.5.4.NLT)
