WRESTLING WITH GOD.
The popular belief was that Jacob wrestled with God and got his name changed from Jacob to Isreal.
Was Jacob the only man that wrestled with God?
Why did Jacob wrestled with God?
What did Jacob do before the 'fight'?
Was it a fight, a flight or a resolve?

One important factor to know is, to wrestle with God means that you are at your wit's end. You are worried, confused, annoyed, you have your doubts, you asked questions, and honestly struggled with your faith. Wrestling with God is also a way of confronting your fears and doubts; letting God know that you just can't go on like this anymore. It is like a deeper or deepest level of surrender after exhaustion - just tired of running, tired of going in circles.

BUT before you wrestle with God, you must let go of all your possessions. It is just you and Him. Nothing to hold you back. This was what Jacob did. "That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. So Jacob was left alone,.........(Gen.32.22-24.NIV). Are you ready to give up everything for God? Jesus Christ demanded same thing from us (Luke 14:26).

Esther wrestled with God when she concluded; “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
(Est.4.16.NIV) - meaning she will confront her fears and lay everything bare. She has nothing to lose.

Moses wrestled with God when he too concluded; “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” (Exo.33.15-16.NIV)

Job too wrestled with God (Job 29-31). David was not left out either when he wrote, "because of your great wrath, for you have taken me up and thrown me aside." (Psa.102.10.NIV) And likewise the Prodigal son's elder brother (Uke 15:28-32)

THE WORD: “Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? Is it not you, God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies?" (Psa.108.10-11.NIV)
