PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

Hope is an anchor that keeps the soul steadfast, sure, secured, unmovable, grounded, and firm in the face of life's storms. It is the spirit of perseverance and patience.
Hopelessness means no hope. No hope means the end and the end means all is finished. The cloud is no longer bright but dark, very dark that there is no way out. Judas experienced this, and inspite of all he had heard and seen, was utterly enveloped in the darkness of hopelessness that he committed suicide. "So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself."

Ahithophel was another man who committed suicide because for once, his advice was ignored. "In those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice." (2 Sam.16.23.NIV). The moment the tide turned, he couldn’t see the way out, only the end. "When Ahithophel saw that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and set out for his house in his hometown. He put his house in order and then hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s tomb." (2 Sam.17.23.NIV)
Hope is a Christian virtue. It is a gift that has to be cultivated, nurtured, and practiced lest it becomes worthless and die. Hope can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear the hardship of today. This is what the Bible encourages. Don't give up because hope is a confident expectation and assurance rooted in faith in God's promises and character. God cannot fail, He does not change, His word is yes and amen. The world may pass, but His word, spoken, will not go back empty. We can conclude that HOPE IS LIFE especially when our hope is anchored on Christ Jesus.
HOPELESSNESS on the other hand is DEATH. It is either refusing to trust God or the complete lack of the knowledge of God. Or completely blinded by pride - the 'I can't go on like this' syndrome. Remember, the Bible is a shelter in seemingly hopeless situations. There is no problem without a solution. It requires patience. (Ps. 55:22; Rom. 8:1-2, Isa. 55:11, 1 John 4:4, John 10:10, Jer. 29:11)
