I SOUGHT THE LORD, BUT HE DIDN'T...... - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

July 22nd, 2025

"I SOUGHT THE LORD, BUT HE DIDN'T.........
What happens when we seek God but HE doesn't answer or HE doesn't answer as we requested? The straight forward answer is, we get more than He is refusing us.

What happened to David, Moses, Paul and our Lord after God refused to answer their pleas?

David had another son with Bathsheba after the dead son, and he called him Solomon because the Lord loved him. "and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah." (2 Sam.12.25.NIV.) We know Solomon!

Moses did not enter the promised land but instead of him walking forward, God walked him upward. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites." (Num.27.12.NIV.) All was not lost. Moses saw the whole of the promised land and it was God, Himself, that buried Moses when he died (Deut. 34:5-6)

Paul's thorns were never removed but Paul found this to be to his advantage when he wrote: "......... Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Cor.12.9-10.NIV) He became a better-golden vessel because the thorns kept him in check from falling.

The prayer of Jesus for the cup to be taken away went unanswered but after it, a more glorious Jesus emerged with a name that is above all names and He is seated at the right hand of God forever. Through Him, the whole world is reconciled to God.
If a seed did not die, it cannot produce fruit. It is in our adversity that the best in us is born. We will never have known how much strength we have without the challenges of life - some unanswered prayers.

Job lost everything. His prayers were unanswered. His friends accused him and the people humiliated him. But God wasn't done with him. He received all he had lost and much more.

There is always a hidden treasure in all of that heartbreaks, all that brokenness, all that pains, the disappointments. It may seem that God did not answer that prayer but in the true sense, it is to give us a better answer if we will just stay online. All things work together for good.....(Rom. 8:28)

THE WORD: Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy." (Psa.126.5.NIV)
