EVANGELISM WITH COMPASSION - FEEDING THE THE STOMACH AND THE SOUL.
Things are very harder now for many, more than can be imagined. Families are struggling to make ends meet. Many do not know where their next meal will come from. Many are sick. Many are out of work. The future does not seem to hold any promises. Yet, we have the Great Commission - "Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. [20] Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.......” (Mat.28.19-20.NLT)
How do you share the gospel with a hungry man? This is where wisdom and the spirit of discernment are needed more than ever, otherwise, we will be like clanging cymbal. "If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal."

Sometimes, to evangelise, we need to meet physical needs first before the needs of the souls. We need to call to remembrance the examples of our Lord Jesus Christ. When He knew that the people were hungry, He sat them down and fed them (Mat. 14:13-21). When they were sick, He healed them (Mat. 4:23-25). When they second guessed themselves, He gave them assurance (John 4:1-26). When the people fell, He lifted them up. To the hopeless, He restored hope (John 8:3-11; 21:15-18)
Meeting the physical needs to gain access to the souls involves compassion and genuine love. It means we see the people as we ought not as mere objects. It is a symbolic act of kindness and service with the promise of divine reward. "And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.” (Mat.10.42.NLT). Evangelism is not just about tossing a leaflet or bible into someone's hand. It is not only talking to them about Jesus. It is also about listening to their immediate needs. A simple act of empathy can open doors to hardened hearts.
Start with the acts of love. See that your house help, that guard, the driver, the shoeless girl running barefooted to school NOT that elaborate donations in the church.
THE WORD: “Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, [16] and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?"
