PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.August 2nd, 2025
HE BECAME POOR SO THAT I MAY BE RICH.
"You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich." (2 Cor.8.9.NLT)
This passage is Paul encouraging the Corinthians to give. Not only to give, but to give willingly (vs.12) and to build a circle of support for themselves that who so ever lacks has the support of others (vs. 14 & 15) and using how Jesus became poor so that believers in Him might be rich.
How does this work?
At the end of the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus told us all; "Go and do likewise" (Luk 10:37)
Also, He said; "So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other."(John.13.34.NLT).
Do unto others as you will like them to do unto you (Mat 7:12)
Jesus gave up His entire kingdom, became poor, so that I may be rich! "Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross." (Phil.2.6-8.NLT)
Jesus showed us the path to riches, not only in monetary form but all of life riches. Freedom from sin, sound mind, ability to trust Him, protection, wisdom, His promises and more -
# supply our needs according to His riches
# we can do all things through Him
# give and it shall be given unto you
# meet us at the point of our needs
# He gave us power to do all things and more
Therefore, when we, through giving, we become poor, He will always give us back 100 fold of what we gave. "If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you! (Prov.19.17.NLT). So we can never be poor. Instead, we get richer.
We can become poor when we do not emulate Jesus Christ. When you believe that 'you don't have', you create poverty for yourself mentally and physically simply because you lack faith in Him that has the whole world in His hand.
You don't accumulate wealth without investing. You must sow the seed to harvest. You have to become poor to be rich.
THE WORD: as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”
(2 Cor.8.15.NIV)
